New Camera

This camera was actually a Christmas present but this week is the first time I've been using it. It's a skinny little Olympus x-935. A bit light making it necessary to keep as still as possible when taking the pictures, but it seems to be doing the job all right.

Here's A helping to test out the features, this one using the 'Sport' feature making it possible to take pictures of moving objects - in this case A.

This last one was taken using just the normal feature before testing the 'Sunset' feature for showing up reds and yellows so giving beautiful photos of the rising or setting sun.
This one was taken using that 'Sunset' feature - not quite the setting sun, but a picture I like of C anyway, and the red and yellow of the room came out well enough, don't you agree?

It's that time of year. Spiders are everywhere, and so are their webs. Here are some from our garden - eek!!

The Incredible Disappearing Girls

One of the reasons I started this blog was so that those abroad would be able to see the girls and what they were up to. A big mistake on my part, they do not like having their pictures taken and put on the net for all to view. As you can see....

No photos!

I said no photos!

No!

Go away!

who's this?

The Day After

Well, we survived, and I have to say it all went swimmingly. The bunch of girls E has as friends really are nice. This made for a pleasant evening, though the rest of us were relegated to our bedroom, A playing computer games till way past time to retire to her own bed.

As to when the girls fell asleep, well, after the first request to 'please go to sleep' at 1.30 the second at 2am finally worked  - albeit amid a few 'Aaah's'. How they didn't all look like bleary eyed monsters the next morning is, no doubt, due to youthfulness unlike the older mama (namely me).

Lots of fun was had by all, it seems. Plenty of snacks, their own home-made pizzas, more snacks, DVDs, snacks, murder in the dark, giggling, chatting and snacks.

C was just glad that he didn't have to play the chauffeur on this occasion, drop offs and pick ups being organised between the parents of the girls. That's it now for the foreseeable future - excuse me while I go for a laydown.

Sleepover

It's one of those weekends! Inundated with girls around the house and limited to which rooms we're allowed in.

C and I will be closed into our bedroom watching the smallest tv in the house, A will probably play with the guineas in her room, while a pile of girls will be making themselves comfy in the living room, whipping up popcorn in the kitchen, running around in the corridors and tying up the loo just when we need it the most. Well, at least E will be happy.

The house has been cleaned to an inch of it's life, the kitchen is stacked up with all the treats E likes possible, and her room has been re-organized to fit 4 girls and their luggage, bedding, make-up, DVDs, cuddly toys and anything else they might bring. Later my room will also be filled with anything we might need too, as leaving it unless for an emergency is strictly forbidden.

Tomorrow, the house will still be filled but this time it'll be by 4 sleepy girls rather than the 4 excited ones, they'll have chatted till late into the night, giggled till their tummies hurt and scoffed all those tasty treats waiting for them. And me? I'll be just as sleepy, having waited till silence reigns in the house. Grouch that I am, I'll be glad when it's all over.

Eek! There goes the doorbell now! Wish us luck...

How Do You Do That?

Here I am again. I've been browsing through the features for these blog sites to see what fun things can be added. Unfortunately, as I'm such a technophobe, I'm going to have to wait till the girls are home to explain how to do the most simple of things. First off, it would be nice to find out how to add photos.

A lot of these blogs are so nice and pretty to visit purely for the photos they've got and I'd like to do the same. The girls can show me how and then they can edit the next blog, maybe a flipped coin to decide who's first.

I wonder what they'll want to write about and which photos they'll add? Till tomorrow in anticipation...

A Big Welcome

Hi  and welcome to all readers to our new blog.

What's this all about? you may be wondering, and , to be honest, so am I.

Daughter number two has recently started secondary school and was impatient to get to the bus taking her there this morning, while daughter number one was more blase about it having been there for two years already. Rushing to get there on time Daughter number two maintained a silent tramp while Daughter number one chatted nineteen to the dozen about sleepovers, favourite movies and what dishes she was due to be cooking at school. Both excited, both happy and both looking forward to whatever the day was going to bring in their very different ways.

It was a lovely almost Autumn day as I was hurrying to meet my two lovely girls coming home at the end of the day, I just got to thinking that these moments will one day be a distant memory, what better way to help keep these memories fresh than writing them down? Even better, how about putting these memories onto the 'net'?

So here we are, hope you'll enjoy.
